Julián Quiñones Prolific scorer blasted Mexico back into first-half contention. Constant threat with clever runs inside and out. 7

Jordan Pickford Huge early save from Jiménez turned out to be pivotal. Backed it up with another flying stop later. 8

Jarell Quansah Solid enough until his night, and England’s bright start to second half, went to pot with idiotic dismissal. 4

Ezri Konsa Uncertain display, losing Jiménez for first-half headers and defending loosely for Quiñones’s goal. Later moved to right-back. 5

Marc Guéhi Grew into the game as it went on, relishing chance to lead rearguard action. One phenomenal late challenge. 7

Nico O’Reilly Careless early throw-ins left Tuchel unimpressed but recovered well, smacking a post before departing as England recalibrated late on. Booked. 6

Elliot Anderson Tasked with looking after Mora and largely handled the prodigy well. Tenacity played a part in Bellingham’s second goal. 7

Declan Rice Steady, largely conservative display perhaps tempered by early booking. But bursting 60-yard run opened the door for England. 7

Anthony Gordon Excellent performance at both ends. Won England’s penalty, had beating of Sánchez and tracked back until the end. 8

Harry Kane Delivered yet again with emphatic penalty. Unselfish assist for second goal, led from front and got away with own spot-kick concession. 7
